Design Guidelines

Components

These live in notion and provide guidance on how to use the components

Working on the Design system

There are weekly meetings on a Thursday, we meet with the Origami team and design representatives from our other pillars and editorial. The agenda covers any actions from the week before first and then goes through any agenda items for the current week

Origami Project

Origami is a collaborative project by and for the FT which includes services, components, and tools used to help design & build digital products for FT brands. Origami includes a component library which is our reference implementation of design system guidelines, used to build digital products. Origami supports multiple brands and is used on ft.com, the app, internal products, and beyond.

Browse Origami components using the Origami Registry or Origami Storybook. Storybook will replace the Origami Registry and offers interactive demos and tools not available in the Origami Registry, however not all component demos have been migrated.

We’re working to extract and improve design guidelines found in Origami and add Origami components to our Figma UI Kit which don’t exist already.

Origami Team

The Origami team look after the Origami project and work closely with the design team on our design system. They help build components, make changes, and support and co-ordinate contributions from around the organisation.

The Origami team are available to answer any specific question in the #origami-support Slack channel; the #origami-chat Slack channel for casual chitchat or larger discussions; and are members of #design-system-guild, regularly attending the design system meeting and supporting updates to our UI Library. Say hello! The team are always happy to help.
